A Weekend of Wine and Delight at Grand View Lodge de'Vine Weekend

This was our first time attending the de'Vine weekend at Grand View Lodge, a must-attend event for wine enthusiasts. Grand View Lodge offers comprehensive packages that include lodging and entry to various wine-centric events.


We opted for day tickets for Saturday's festivities, though there were enticing optional dinners on Friday night, which received rave reviews. The menus, brimming with gourmet offerings, definitely set the tone for the weekend.


Saturday's Program

Our day began with a lunch featuring Amy Thielen, introduced by Joy Summers, the Food and Drink reporter for the Star Tribune. It was fascinating to hear about Amy’s journey from Detroit Lakes, MN to New York City and back, especially as she discussed her new book, “Company: The Radically Casual Art of Cooking for Others.” The event paired a delectable lunch with fine wines from Johnson Brothers, providing a delightful start to our day.


In the afternoon, the resort offered a variety of seminars. We first attended the Cheese and Wine session, where we enjoyed an array of cheeses alongside perfect wine pairings. Hearing directly from the cheesemakers and a knowledgeable sommelier from New France Wine Co. added depth to our tasting experience.

Next, we joined a Cajun Cooking demo with Chef Tommy Begnaud of Mr. Paul’s Supper Club in Edina. Watching the preparation of gumbo and etouffee, and even getting to take home some leftover roux, was a highlight.


Our final seminar focused on the wines of the Santa Barbara region, presented by Conner MacDonald from Jackson Family Wines. This session was as educational as it was enjoyable, offering insights into the unique characteristics of the region's vineyards.


The Grand Tasting Event

The weekend's highlight was undoubtedly the Grand Tasting Event. With over 80 wines from around the globe available for sampling, the breadth and quality on offer were impressive. The resort’s chefs outdid themselves with four stations featuring 16 culinary delights, each crafted to enhance the wines’ diverse flavors.


A Memorable Experience

For anyone with a passion for wine and gourmet food, the de'Vine weekend at Grand View Lodge is an event not to be missed. We’re already looking forward to next year’s gathering!
